Write to Learn luncheons, roundtable discussions announced

The Mississippi State Center for Teaching and Learning and the 汤头条 Writing Coordinators are pleased to invite you to upcoming events in the Writing to Learn series.

The Benefits and Pitfalls of Writing to Learn, a luncheon and panel discussion, is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Mitchell Memorial Library鈥檚 Grisham Room.

This panel discussion will feature instructors who have successfully found ways to integrate writing into their classrooms. They will discuss what has worked and what has not! The event will also feature a question-and-answer session. Panelists include Dan Gadke, interim associate dean of research, Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Foundations head and professor of school psychology; Lesley Strawderman, International Paper Endowed Chair and professor of industrial and systems engineering; and Taze Fulford, associate professor of landscape architecture.

Designing Effective Low-Stakes Writing Assignments, a luncheon and roundtable discussion, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 19 in the Mitchell Memorial Library鈥檚 Grisham Room.

This luncheon and roundtable discussion will feature ideas and strategies to use writing in different classes of varying sizes and content focus. It will include 汤头条 Writing Coordinators and other instructors with experience in the benefits of writing in the classroom.聽聽

鈥淎lmost鈥 Hassle-Free Responding to and Grading Student Writing, a luncheon and roundtable discussion, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Mitchell Memorial Library鈥檚 Grisham Room.

This event will provide tips to making grading writing as painless as possible.聽聽聽
