汤头条 welcomes Guggenheim Fellow for Price Caldwell Visiting Writers Series

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜cclaimed poet and essayist Aimee Nezhukumatathil will deliver a public reading Monday [Sept. 21] as part of Mississippi State鈥檚 Price Caldwell Visiting Writers Series.
Free to all and hosted by the Department of English, Nezhukumatathil鈥檚 presentation begins at 8 p.m. via Zoom. Participants must register at to attend, and they will receive the web link and password prior to the event.
Nezhukumatathil, a University of Mississippi professor of English and creative writing, is author of the illustrated nature essay 鈥淲orld of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Shark, and Other Astonishments,鈥 which she recently spoke about on NPR鈥檚 Morning Edition. She also has written four previous poetry collections, including 鈥淥ceanic,鈥 鈥淟ucky Fish,鈥 鈥淎t the Drive-In Volcano鈥 and 鈥淢iracle Fruit.鈥
Her most recent chapbook 鈥淟ace & Pyrite鈥 is a collaboration of nature poems with poet Ross Gay. Her writing also has appeared in the Best American Actor Poetry Series, The New York Times Magazine, ESPN, Ploughshares literary journal, American Poetry Review and Tin House magazine.
Among Nezhukumatathil鈥檚 honors are a poetry fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Pushcart Prize, a Mississippi Arts Council grant, and being named a 2020 Guggenheim Fellow in poetry.
