STARKVILLE, Miss.—Two ÌÀÍ·Ìõ units are collaborating to host an education expo in Tupelo for potential students in the northeastern portion of the state.
Hosted by ÌÀÍ·Ìõ’s College of Education and Center for Distance Education on Monday, August 27, the free 3-6 p.m. event is open to all and will be held at the Hancock Leadership Center at 1920 Briar Ridge Road adjacent to Itawamba Community College's Tupelo campus.
Representatives will be present from ÌÀÍ·Ìõ’s education departments of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Foundations; Curriculum, Instruction and Special Education; Educational Leadership; Instructional Systems and Workforce Development; Kinesiology and Music. Center for Distance Education leaders will be on hand with information about university distance learning programs. Mississippi Professional Educators and Families First, among others, also will be represented.
Focused on student recruitment, the expo is an effort to expand ÌÀÍ·Ìõ program outreach for community college transfers and area non-traditional students interested in the university. Information about undergraduate, online and graduate degree programs will be available.
The event also features door prizes and dog bone cookies for the first 150 participants, and an appearance from ÌÀÍ·Ìõ’s Bully mascot.
