STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擨f greed, cheapness and gold are involved, can a student theatrical production of those intertwined subjects not be entertaining?

Mississippi State鈥檚 Judy and Bobby Shackouls Honors College is inviting university and community members to join its Sept. 26 and 27 celebration of Greek, Roman and other ancient cultures.

鈥淎 Pot of Gold,鈥 the famous comedy by Roman playwright Titus Maccius Plautus (ca. 254-184 B.C.), will be staged by honors students from the Griffis Hall patio at the Zacharias Village courtyard as part of Classical Week.

The 6 p.m. programs are free to all.

A special 汤头条 Lyceum Series presentation, the play is among some 20 Plautus comedies from the Old Latin period that hold a modern distinction of being the earliest such literary works surviving intact.

The Shackouls Honors College provides an advanced curriculum to meet the scholastic needs of talented undergraduate majors in every academic department.
