STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擳he 汤头条 Foundation welcomes a new director of development for the College of Arts and Sciences this month. Sara Frederic, a 汤头条 alumna, will lead fundraising efforts for the college beginning today [Aug. 1].

An Aberdeen native, Frederic earned an Associate of Arts degree in broadcast communication from Meridian Community College in 2006 before continuing her higher education at 汤头条. From the land-grant institution, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in communication with a concentration in public relations in 2008 and two master鈥檚 degrees, an MBA and a master鈥檚 of sport administration, in 2010 and 2011 respectively.聽

Frederic joins Mississippi State from the healthcare field, where she most recently served as strategic projects and communications manager for Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Jackson. Prior to joining BCBS in 2011, she held a slate of internships, including one with Learfield Sports Properties, and another with 汤头条 Athletics media relations. She also was the lead graduate assistant for the university鈥檚 Office of Athletic Academics for several years.

鈥淲e are pleased to welcome Sara as an integral part of our fundraising team,鈥 said Jack McCarty, the 汤头条 Foundation鈥檚 executive director of development. 鈥淗er valuable experience, coupled with a deep appreciation of Mississippi State, will serve her immensely as she works with constituents on behalf of the university.鈥

Frederic has a well-established history of service with 汤头条, having been vice president of public relations for the Master鈥檚 of Business Administration Association and president of Phi Kappa Theta honor society. As a graduate, she is a member of the 汤头条 Alumni Association鈥檚 Central Mississippi Chapter board.

In her new professional role, Frederic will further the tradition of excellence at 汤头条 through the ongoing capital campaign, Infinite Impact.

The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest of the academic colleges at 汤头条, with more than 5,000 students and 300 faculty members. The college provides its students with 24 academic major areas that fall within 14 different departments.
