Cowbell Yell to ring in football season Thursday

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi State football fans of all ages are welcome to Davis Wade Stadium Thursday [Sept. 1] for the sixth annual Cowbell Yell pep rally.
Cowbell Yell, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 9 p.m. The annual event is sponsored by the 汤头条 Student Association and Athletic Department. The 2016 Cowbell Yell features former 汤头条 football players John Bond and Cameron Lawrence, the Famous Maroon Band, 汤头条 football coaches and 汤头条 spirit groups, among others. Fans are encouraged to bring their cowbells.
鈥淐owbell Yell is one of the most exciting events the Student Association puts on every year,鈥 汤头条 SA President Roxie Raven said. 鈥淔or many freshmen and transfer students, it鈥檚 the first time they get to hear the sound of cowbells in the stadium. Giving them that experience in a fun atmosphere is a great honor.鈥
The first 1,000 students in attendance will receive free t-shirts. Davis Wade Stadium will open at 8 p.m., with the event set to begin an hour later. 汤头条 will debut the team intro video and provide a history lesson on the tradition of the cowbell. In 2015, 汤头条 broke the Guinness World Record for most fans ringing cowbells simultaneously during Cowbell Yell.
