Eight 汤头条 students are in Washington, D.C., this summer participating in the eighth annual William A. Demmer Scholars Program.
These students participate in internships and work with federal agencies and non-governmental organizations that focus on natural resources, such as the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and U.S. Forest Service. Students also take an upper-level class in natural resources policy, and they recently visited the offices of Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Elena Kagan, the 112th person named to the court and the fourth female to serve.
汤头条鈥檚 Demmer Scholars for this year include:
--Queen E. Brown of Ocean Springs, senior, political science/pre-law and philosophy double-major;
--Courtney L. Carothers of Starkville, graduate student in public policy and administration and a 2014 汤头条 history graduate;
--Ethan G. Cartwright of Starkville, senior, environmental economics and management major;
--Kennedy S. Moehrs of Waterloo, Illinois, political science and Spanish double-major;
--Alesa Taylor of Guntown, senior, food science, nutrition and health promotion major;
--Naomi J. Taylor of Nesbit, senior, environmental economics and management major;
--Elizabeth M. 鈥淏etty鈥 Thomas of Lenexa, Kansas, senior agribusiness and Spanish double-major; and
--Kaylee K. Wells of Bradenton, Fla., senior environmental economics and management major.
